Has anyone had ice cream from an ice cream van in pregnancy?

yeahHas anyone had ice cream from an ice cream van in pregnancy?
Yeah. Why?Has anyone had ice cream from an ice cream van in pregnancy?
Yes, but only from a van where I knew the ice cream was OK for preggy ladies - i.e. it hadn't been left to thaw and then re-frozen, or was made from unpasturised milk.
yes its ok
i got told to avoid ice cream from machines but my mum ate it all the time when she was pregnant with me, and im fine
yes

why?
Im sure!
My Midwife advised me that because you do not know if the item has been thawed and re-frozen then you should not. in most cases this is not a problem but in a portable van situation, and if ice-cream is being transfered in and out, you do not know if it is totally frozen all the time.

I would not run any risks......... you are better to go to the supermarket and buy some ice-cream and have it on hand for those midnight cravings!
There should not be any problem ....we re governed by the same health and safety rules like everyone else....

I would ensure that the van looks clean and that the person selling it looks clean and you should be fine
yes plenty of times its fine its only the whipped ice cream u shouldnt eat
u mean the ice cream truck that goes around the neighborhood?
I ate lots of soft whipped ice cream throught my last pregnancies and have had a few this time and it never did me or my baby any harm x
Yes, why shouldn't i of?
Yes~! Alot of times... is there a problem with that? I never heard anything about it being bad... Why?
If it is frozen, there should not be any bad cooties in it...

Seriously, I never heard that the ice cream from the Mr. Softee truck was risky, and I heard hundreds of food-related warnings when I was pregnant...
if you mean the soft whipped variety then no, its well known for harbouring bacteria unless the machine has been cleaned thoroughly daily.
I did when I was pregnant. I think I had 2. My baby turned out to be fine and healthy!!!!

I didnt know that you were not supposed to untill my midwife saw me eating it, she told me that it was not good in case it has bacteria in. I promtly threw it in the bin lol.
yes i have ! why?
You are not supposed to eat ice cream from soft whip machines...ice cream you buy at supermarkets is safe so it depends on what your ice cream van uses x
OH MY GOD THE ICE CREAM TRUCK?!!?!?!?!??!!
Do you mean The Ice Cream Man or woman??? I did almost every day in the summer when they would come down my street. I don't see why not.
yes all the time. Is there someting wrong with that?
Let's see we feed our kids from the ice cream truck so if we can't even eat from it when we're pregnant than there's something SERIOUSLY wrong there!
omg yes!!.... mmm sunday with no strawberies and extra pineapple %26lt;3333
I had some soft ice cream from a machine in the first trimester before I heard it wasn't safe. Everything was fine but I don't think I'd risk it again, as I'm not sure how often the place would clean it to be honest.

That reminds me about my dream last night about going to buy ice cream. gah!

*sigh*

I thought that'd get a thumbs down. I would only not eat if I couldn't be sure it was from a clean machine! I don't really want to run the risk of getting listeria. Whilst that bacteria wouldn't really harm me, it can cause miscarriage and premature birth. Numerous links below if the person who gave thumbs down can be bothered to read it.

I don't normally subscribe to the hyped up things we ';shouldn't do'; whilst pregnant, but when it comes to things like bacteria that can be avoided easily then I will.
no i havent im pregnant with second and havent with either aparently its got raw egg in it or something like that and i dont like risking foods in pregnancy
you shouldnt but people probably have (:

You shouldnt because you can get Listeria from it =]
you shouldn't
